About the SA Publication Forum

The SA Publication Forum is committed to improving and promoting corporate publications in South Africa. Through the forum, publication practitioners get together to network and share ideas. The main activities of the forum are the annual corporate publication competition and training opportunities, workshops and seminars.

Companies are welcome to contact the forum with specific training needs.
We will gladly tailor a course and present it in-house.

Meet the founders


Jennie Fourie


Jennie Fourie has roamed the South African media landscape for the past 30-odd years. She is a freelance copywriter, journalist and media consultant with a special interest in innovation, design and popularising research. She paid her dues as an educator teaching Media Studies at the then Technikon Pretoria for eleven years.

Jennie holds a master’s degree in Journalism (cum laude), and for the past 16 years she has co-organised the annual SA Publication Forum’s Corporate Publication Competition. She knows what communicates well and what does not – and that’s no maybe.

Derick van der Walt


Derick van der Walt has been in the corporate communication business for many years. He is the owner of Greenpepper Communication, a communication consultancy that has been producing corporate publications, printed and electronic for many years. Derick is a journalist by trade and is he has a BA (Hons) in Communication and an MA (cum laude) in creative writing from the University of Pretoria. He is editor of two agricultural magazines.

He writes creatively in his spare time. He has won numerous awards for his books, among others, the Sanlam Prize (three times), the MER Prize (twice), the Scheepers Prize, an ATKV Veertjie as well as an international Ibby award. He is co-founder and director of the SA Publication Forum.
